Impressions/storyline – On the way home from a trailer trip to Black Rock Park, we stopped and photographed Llano County courthouse. Very nice, lovely structure. It sits in its own square (like all the others on this trip). It is high Victorian Romanesque – at its best. It has an airy feel for Romanesque, as compared to the much heavier Romanesque found in counties like Lee and Gonzles.   The clock tower is as graceful as I’ve seen, with its’ delicacy perhaps even magnified against the heavy granite used to build this hill country beauty. I do look forward to coming back here for Christmas, if at all possible, as they light up the entire structure for the holidays.  And as it turns out, its now 2011 and we’ll be returning soon to Black Rock.  Since the courthouse tower has been restored in 2006, I’m sure we’ll make another stop on this trip, so look for an update.  It was hard for me to determine what restoration had taken place in 2006 (since the entire courthouse was restored in 2002), but when the new pictures are added – you’ll notice a cupola is now part of the restored tower (the pics have been added – see the link below).  Also, the historic county jail was built around the same time as the courthouse and I hope we’ll be able to add that jail to our portfolio as well. (I did get it – see the link below)
