Unusual courthouse.  The 1917 courthouse is made of rusticated stone and seems like it might have been at least moderately impressive at one time.  But with the addition on one side – it appears that original entrances were lost.  the addition on the front obviously changed that side.  And if you look at the photos above, the back seems to have had an entrance at one time (in the lower middle under the crown) as the windows are different than the other windows.

Regardless of the vagueness of this courthouse, the trip is worth your time.  Set in the remote parts of the hill country, Real County is much more undeveloped than other parts of the Hill Country and is the home to some exotic animal ranches.   Don’t be surprised if you see a giraffe when making a turn – or maybe a herd of zebra in the distant hills.
