Impressions/storyline –  On our trip to Palestine for the New Year’s we were able to work in a couple of courthouses (see Falls County). Driving up to the courthouse, I was immediately struck with the many accomodations that had to be made to make the building meet standards. It certainly detracted from the entire impact of any style the building might have. The stair cases were very noticeable, as were many other items – such as the trash bin.

Style wise, it was a little different. According to the sign up front, it was a classic style, with beaux arts added for style. I did like that part of the building, with the cornucopia, the friezes in the hallways, the lamps on the top of the stairs, and the tile work on the floor. If not for all of the things added on to make the building usable, the style would probably have been much more interesting. Clem liked it more than I did.

We thought we were going to get a tour. A lady came out of the courthouse and asked clem if he were interested in walking around inside – personal tour. He said yes. She said she was coming right back – but after about 10/15 minutes, we decided we needed to get moving along.
