Mt. Vernon Town Square

see Franklin County Courthouse
See Historic Franklin County Jail

The Mt. Vernon town square is a lovely East Texas example and full of small shops and assorted other businesses. The square was laid out in 1864 – before Mt. Vernon became the county seat in 1875. Now, it is a peaceful park – ready made for those shopping for antiques.

I’m having my wedding on December 31,2016 and was wondering if you have to pay to use the gazebo with all the lights around it? Also if the Justice of Peace would come out to officiate it or if he only does it in the courthouse.
