Hale County Courthouse

Architect – Martin, Byrnes & Johnson

See Old Hale County Jail (probably the old Ag Bldg.)

An interesting example of Beaux Arts.  The exterior has the art deco pieces over the 2nd floor windows.  There is some design work in the brick.  And it’s top off by an interesting dome – that is difficult to see.  Not sure if the dome does anything inside.  Maybe in the courtroom – but it was closed.  Inside – the highlight had to be the staircase,  Beautiful iron work and a great view up the stairs.  This building is an outstanding candidate for restoration.
