We took a ‘Wine’ trip for my birthday this year. We spent a week in the Texas Hill Country between Fredricksburg and Johnson City. We did the LBJ ranch/Texas Whitehouse tour, along with visiting about 8 wineries and a bourbon distillery (bourbon in Texas?). If I ever feel that energetic I’ll post photos of the trip at a later date.

We’ve avoided the Kerr County Courthouse for a long time. Not sure why. It’s close to our place in Bandera County – and really not that far from San Antonio. Whatever the reason, we managed to fit in this courthouse visit in between wine tastings!

The courthouse is fairly plain – at least at first look. The highlight of its exterior is a very nice and ornate entrance. There are also some decorative concrete panels around the top of the building. Inside, it has a nice foyer – with the beaux arts touches that are so easy to like. We did not bother with the courtroom as it is in the addition. The old courtroom is now the clerks office and most vestiges of it have vanished. The addition is well done. It was added on the back. It has a few touches of decoration up near the top, and it is placed so as to not detract from the original courthouse.
