This retired courthouse sits in the quiet town of Sherwood.  Sherwood was abandoned – like many other Texas towns, when the railroad decided to stop elsewhere.  The courthouse is a haunting site – evoking the late 1800’s, early 1900’s.  The courthouse was built in 1901 by Moody & Martin – names I think I’ve seen on other courthouses.  The county seat was moved to the railroad town of Mertzon, just a few miles away, in 1936.  Evidently, the courthouse is still used for special events.
