Hemphill County Courthouse

County seat – Canadian
Built – 1909
Style – Italianate Details (Texas Renaissance)
Arcitect – Gillcnat & Skinner
Photos taken – 10/9/18

Two things of note here – the Italiante style – not too prevalent in Texas courthouse architecture.  Therefore, the detail is unusual and pleasing.  The second thing was the courtroom – under total construction – renovation? restoration?  who knows?  Looking at the rest of the interior – it’s all clean and looks renovated – not restored.  So maybe that’s a clue.
