Day 4 – Warwick, Scone Making

Warwick Castle

Paul joined us today, as we visited the old city of Warwick – with it’s looming castle. Warwick Castle was taken over some years ago by Madame Toussard’s – and they proceeded to add their famous wax features to create a weekend party inside of the Castle. Historically – this is a fortified castle, though through the years it became a country home. We were going to take the ghost tour and paid for it and everything – and then it got cancelled! So we waited around for nothing. Could have used that time to walk around Stratford-upon-Avon – our next stop.

While in Warwick, we visited the large and ancient Collegiate Church of St. Mary. Fine monuments and stained glass give us evidence of the wealth and influence this town had many years ago.

Off to Stratford – albeit a little late – to take a scone making class. We were entertained and educated in the art of scone making in the home of Fulden Tur (The Dough House) where makes her own jams and jellies. Susie and I took the class and enjoyed it bunches. But we were really left with no time to walk around Shakespeare’s old haunts.
