Our first stop off the Queen Mary was Salisbury. A very old city centered around its’ magnificent cathedral. As luck would have it – the interior of the cathedral was closed for a contest of some sort for area schools. Hugely disappointing – but the exterior was as stunning as advertised, we did see a copy of the Magna Carta and the close around the cathedral contained some wonderful old buildings and lots of gardens.

Early English Gothic cathedral. One of the most architecturally complete cathedrals in England – having been built completely within 38 years and using just one plan. It houses one of the 4 copies of the Magna Carta – said to be the best of the 4. It holds one of the world’s oldest working clocks and has the highest spire in England.
