Wharton was one of those unexpected pleasures. We had arrived late into Victoria but thought we could still work in a few courthouses. I told Clem we could do a few that didn’t matter if they were closed – like Matagorda and Wharton counties. Nothing too exciting here. Well was I wrong – at least about Wharton. The county received restoration funding and its courthouse was taken back to its original splendor. Check out the links above for details about this amazing transformation.
This courthouse will now rank in many of my top courthouse lists. My only regret about the visit was not getting to see the courtroom. Enjoy this beauty and add it to Victoria, Dewitt and Goliad counties as must-sees in the Coastal Bend area of Texas.
