Go to Coldspring

go to Historic San Jacinto County Jail

San Jacinto county borders on being East Texas – and I think the courthouse reflects that with a stately columned building.  We were on a trailer trip and parked at Lake Livingston state park.  While there, we were able to visit with our Palestine friends – Mary & Mike, who were able to use a friends lake house while we were there.  Very nice lake and state park.

The courthouse was not spectacular, but was impressive.  Good exterior elevation and symmetry.  Inside, the Texas outline laid into the floor was nice touch and the rotunda was pleasing.  Having seen a few others with awesome stained glass domes, this one left a little to be desired, but still, the rotunda was a nice touch.
