One of the finest in Texas.  This J. Riely Gordon jewel was recently remodeled.  Don’t miss the courtroom – it style & panache help make the courthouse what it is.  There are some photos of the walls on the second floor.  this motif – appears to be a smiling face, is actually inversed in one place (see the photo) so that it looks like a frown instead!

The courthouse has a wonder tower, bells, porches, brick patterns, and tons of wonderful and interesting features.  You won’t want to miss this courthouse if in the area.  The near by counties of Goliad, DeWitt and Wharton offer other fine courthouses making this a good destination for a few days visit.
