Impressions – nice shaded setting – that’s important in the southwest Texas summers.  It has some interest – it is old – but sometime in the early 1900’s (1914 I believe) the courthouse house had a 3rd floor added and the interesting roofs on the turrets and the tower were all removed.  It was Labor Day and the courthouse was closed – so I wasn’t able to get inside – but I believe it’s been restored.  If so, maybe the interior has more interest.  Del Rio is an old border town with a lot of early railroad connections – so there’s much to see in the area.  The water source -San Felipe springs, are located in a park you pass coming in from the East.  There is the Laughlin Air Force Base – so there’s a fair amount of activity.  Also near by is the huge Lake Amistad rec area.  Further out west is Langtry  – and the Judge Roy Bean connections.  Across the Rio Grande is the Mexican city of Ciudad Acuna.
