Dallam County Courthouse, Texas

County seat – Dalhart
Built – 1922
Style – Classical Revival
Architect – Smith & Townes
Photos Taken – 6/24/05

Impressions – Well the first impression is location.  Dallam County is at one of the absolute corners of Texas – at the outer ends of the Texas Panhandle.  Really not close to anything.  This is BIG RANCH territory – with some of the world’s largest ranches in the area.  The Courthouse is a very standard representation of the Classical Revival Style – with the columns actually creating a portico.  Many of the classical revival buildings have much of the columns recessed into the building itself.

We were able to photograph this courthouse along with the Hartley County Courthouse while on a trip going to Oregon – via Denver.  Otherwise – it might have been quite awhile before we got here.  I know that the Panhandle is not on the immediate trip calendar – but one of these days….

Would you please send me a copy of your county holidays?

Judy – sorry for not responding (for months!). Lots of reasons why – but let that go for now.

Anyhow, I’m not sure what you need – copy of my county holidays. Give me a little more info and maybe I can come up with something. Are you wanting the County holidays for Bexar County (that’s my home county)?
